Start Over New

If you are stuck somewhere on something (in the writing world), this helpful tip might be just what you need.

Forget erasing everything, or scratching things out. While it might seem like the right idea, this could actually be unconsciously hindering your writer's voice. See, something I've learned in    believe it or not    math class, of all places, but also in English classes and so forth, is this: The idea of what you were writing before you is stuck in your head, even if erased on paper. The ideas might be wiped from the slate, but the writing still manages to seep through and keep you stuck.

The advice that was given to me in return: Literally throw those sheets to the wind, and grab a blank one where you can really start fresh with a new perspective, and perhaps ditch the original one. Keep repeating this until finally satisfied. Because sometimes, it just takes something entirely new to rewire our brains and open us up to new ideas.

So, dear readers, if you ever find yourself feeling rather stuck on something, don't erase your work! Toss it and start over. Terrifying as it may be. Because a fresh start is almost always better than remaining stuck somewhere unsatisfactory. That's just common sense right there!
