Web-Presentation Posting - Delayed

I've been asked if my web-presentation video on self-publishing is out yet. Unfortunately, and I'm sorry to say this, but there's been a delay in filming. Due to health issues, school work, and other life interference, I have been unable to fully complete this project, and have thus been delayed by about a day or so. But there is good news: starting tomorrow I believe I will finally be able to get back at it, so please stay tuned—the video is coming, I promise! And I thank you for your patience.

School: An Unnecessary Feat?

I cannot begin to describe how difficult—and by "difficult" I mean un-motivating—it has been for me to attempt to continue on with my school work. After learning I don't necessarily need a degree, not to be a freelance editor at least, I keep asking myself: Why am I still working to complete my classes?

This doesn't mean I'm giving up. The end is in sight. And from there I will begin my online real estate course, with an additional writing, editing, and/or communications class. After all, communications is an incredibly special and important supplement to the work I'm doing and want to do, in more ways than I can even fully explain, myself.

Harder yet, is just how badly I want to focus on trying to get editing clients, get an editor myself for my soon-to-be published novel, Shattered Lives. If the name sounds familiar, it should—it's only the book I've been working on and talking about for the last few years. I'm also trying to write it's sequel, Fractured Hearts, along with a new potential-series, although it is currently just a single novel (whose official name/title has yet to be determined). I keep going back and forth between "Brigid Karena", "Karena Springs", or something else altogether. So there's that. Meanwhile I'm also in the works of creating my first presentation video (in what I hope will be a recurring webseries).

I'm powering through, but believe me, I am counting down the days I'm done with these classes!

The Self-Publishing Route: A Complex System - Coming Soon

As I write this, I am excited to announce that I am in the process of creating a PowerPoint presentation video, and I am currently 18 slides in (including my list of sources).

title "Self Publishing 101 & 102" my presentation video will take a deep(er) inside look into what it means to be self-published, what it takes, and learning how to protect yourself along the way. I have never seen anything like this, and I've always thought something like this would be extremely helpful. But as the famous quote goes (from the July 2017 QOTM) : "If there's a book you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it" -Toni Morrison.

In this case, the "book" just so happens to be a survivalists' guide, so-to-speak, for authors trying to break into and thus navigate the insane world that is self-publishing.

I expect I will be done with the creation of the slides come Thursday (I must break for the duration of the day -- homework!) and the filming an begin Friday-Saturday. EEK! How cool is that?!

On that note, I am signing off and going to sleep (although I have to be up at nine...but oh I'm so tired!)

Goodnight, good morning, and good...whatever.
Don't forget to keep your eyes peeled for further future announcements!

Writers and Editors Meetup - Coming Soon

I am currently in the works of creating a Writing and Editing meetup which will meet both in person and online. The online site has been up and running for sometime, despite the fact it hasn't been used despite the occasional post from when I first got it running to be sure it worked. However, it won't be in active use until after the New Year of 2019.

From: Pen Guardians, The official Meetup Site—
Welcome to our “Pen Guardians Writers & Editors Meetup” site! I am Sabrina S.K. Regan, manager, coordinator, and meetup creator. I don’t know much about the general Eugene Meetups site, but I am familiar with group spaces. This will function as the online site; it has been up and running for some time, despite the fact it hasn't been used despite the occasional post from when I first got it running to be sure it worked. Don't hesitate to have a look around and get familiar with our online site. For everyone's privacy, this online site is only visible to meetup members, which is why, following our first in-person meeting, I should have added you to our site. If it seems you are not an active member here, please click the "Join Now" button on the right hand side of this page to become a member.

Interested in joining? While the in-person meeting location has yet to be determined, you can still become a member of the online group (no charge) at groupspaces.com/PenGuardians/ (the link is also in my Favorites Link list). You will still be offered writing support, you can sell your own books, get instant feedback from other writers and editors alike, etc.

If you can't join in person, however, I do request the following submission form for formality purposes. Because this is a closed group, I'd like to know what it is you plan to bring to the table, and what you wish to get out of this group (something the in-person meeting will cover, hence the reason for this submission):

Name:
Age:
Are you a Writer, Editor, or both?
Do you have your own business? (this is only important to share if you wish to network with people)
What skills do you hope to bring to this meetup?
Things you'd like out of this group?
Is there a fun-fact about yourself you'd like to share?

An example response: I'm Sabrina, creator and manager of this meetup, and I have my own freelance editing business, Oaktree Editing Services. My goals are to get something [else] published, to become a well-established editor, and to hopefully get a magazine startup. I've been considering using this meetup eventually as a platform to get this dream underway. Fun fact about me: I've been writing since before I could write letters or even numbers -- just squiggles on a page.

Please, don't hesitate to join!

Well-Deserved Changes and Additions, In Life and In Blogs

It was time to give my blog a major update, including a new name and along with it a new URL. "Why?" you might be asking yourself. The answer is simple and well-deserved: I am so close to getting published that I decided to use this blog only as a how-to/a guide into the writing and editing trade (and market) and create an author blog under the original title: "The Secret Writer". You can already view my new author-blog @ regan-writes.blogspot.com

This is a very exciting time in my life right now, and thus I am incredibly proud to announce these changes, an announcement which also results in additional work for editing my blogs, but oh is it worth it! And it feels amazing--like I'm taking a breath of new oxygen.

Personal Freelance Editing Services - Coming Soon

I've trying to break into the freelance editing community for awhile now and I'm excited to announce I am finally making it official! I've built my own website, though it is currently still underway, but is so near to publication -- I'm hoping to have it DONE done by the end of this week. And in two weeks I'm joining the Eugene's Editor's Guild to network and learn how to expand my efforts. I'm very excited! It's now time for me to choose a business card. I have created a few, now I just have to narrow down my options. So stay tuned for the final announcement! It won't be much longer now.... ðŸ˜ŠðŸ–‰ðŸ–³ðŸ˜„
