Praise is a nice ego-booster; it makes me feel better about what I’ve done, and I know what I’ve done well. Needless to say praise is great. But to truly better my writing I need rejection; that’s what has always turned dirt into gold. Once I know my own stuff is gold, then I’ll accept praise as a sincere proclamation that I will hold onto as dearly as I will the rejection that got me there.
